More Updates

So while I realize that it's Tuesday and I should've posted yesterday, but I didn't and I'm pretty sure that I'll live.  So here we go.
As of yesterday I'm down 2 lbs for the week.  I was hoping for 3 but I'll be happy with 2.  This last 9 lbs has been the slowest to come off.  On Christmas Eve I was down 29 lbs, and as of yesterday I'm down 39lbs.  So it has taken me a little over 7 wks to lose those 10 lbs.  That's a long time considering most months I was averaging 9 lbs a month.  So yes I'm a little frustrated, but I knew that once school started and my schedule changed things might slow down.  And added to that I only did my water aerobics class once each for the last 2 weeks.  I have found that I am really missing that class, it has been a great stress reliever for me.  I just hoping that I can fit it in once this week too and then maybe next week I can get back on track.  My weight-lifting class on the other hand is going good, I am loving doing the weights again.  It is such a great feeling to push and pull heavy weights and see what my body is capable of.
On the kiddo's front it has been up and down.  The kids are both busy with school and homework.  Near the end of last week Miss Magoo was complaining of a sore throat and was doing a LOT of coughing especially at night.  And while at first her coughing wasn't keeping her up, just lucky me.  By Thursday night it was waking her up too.  So Friday after a busy running around day I got her into the Dr's.  Good thing too, she tested positive for Strep.  Poor kid.  By Saturday she was back to her happy bouncy self.  We even went to the BSU men's bball game.  The main reason for going was the BSU was honoring all the students that achieved a gpa of 3.50 or higher. Before the game they had a reception where there was pizza and they handed out certificates for those who made the list. Then during the half-time portion of the men's game all of us who made the list got to walk out on the court and wave to those in the crowd.  It was a little geeky feeling on one hand, but also cool feeling too.  I mean I worked HARD for my grades, and I'm proud of that.  The kids got a kick out of seeing their momma on the court waving up at them. I want my kids to know that college is important and that I'm doing all this hard work for them too.  And in the long run (hopefully not too long) all this hard work it going to pay off for all of us.

Different Week New Numbers

So the last two weeks like every week since I started back to school were crazy.  I think I'm getting used to my new normal, craziness.  Last was good for the most part.  Only lost 1lb last week, not thrilled but it was a loss not a gain so that's good.  This week though I feel like I'm getting back into my grove that I had going before Christmas.  Today the scale showed that I was down 3 lbs.!  That's the kind of numbers that I like to see. I wasn't able to get on the treadmill as much as I wanted last week but I still walked a total of 8 miles, so not bad.
In other news:
Friday Jan. 28th I took the kids to see the Living Legends, it was so fabulous!!  Both the kids loved it, even if before hand they both were a little whinny about having to go.  The performers were incredible, if you have a chance to see them I highly recommend it.
Saturday Jan. 29th I took the kids to see the BSU women's basketball team play.  We lost, everyone was very sad, but it was a ton of fun.  Again both kids weren't so sure about going, but once we were there they couldn't sit still in their seats.  The crowd was sadly rather small so the kids had a lot of room to dance around to the music.  They both made it on the big screen 4 times each, which made their night.  Part way through the game Miss Magoo leans over to ask me where the "women" were.  I pointed to the court and said there they where.  She was a little offended and told me that "those were teenagers" and reminded me that I had promised to take her to a "women's" basketball game.  So we had a little talk about how women's and girl's basketball teams were really  the same thing, just different names.
Earlier in the day on Saturday I had taken the kids to BSU for their Engineering Day.  It was crazy busy.  There where demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-projects around every corner.  The kids got to build with keva blocks, helped to make a balloon replica of some kind of molecule or other, try and build a earthquake proof house, ride a hoover craft, made a miniature catapult and finally made a spool car.  All in all it was a great weekend, and it took me all week to recover from it.
Last week was just more school, kids at the dad's and me trying to catch my breath and get ready to start this week and do it all over.

Totals so far:   37lbs

On another side note  Miss Magoo and I went and saw Tangled Saturday while her brother had his birthday party.  Loved loved loved the movie, this is one we will be buying when it comes out!!

Happy Weekends With My Kids

So I missed a few days. This weekend was a little crazy, but nothing new there. My kids usually spend the first three weekends of the month (during the school year) with their dad. But we swapped weekends for Halloween, so they were with me this past weekend. Anyway, we had a fun time.
PJ's old school out in Caldwell was having a Christmas bazaar, so we headed out there. It was so nice to run into friends of mine that still live there. We saw some fun stuff, had pictures with Santa, and found some cute hair flowers for Miss Magoo. I was just nice to spend sometime with both of them without all the craziness of school and homework and everything else we do.
Sunday we went to church together. While sometimes it is nice to be able to sit through Sacrament meeting without being mauled by my kids. Or having them get up to use the bathroom, blow their nose, get a drink every five seconds. And I do enjoy getting to actually listen to the speakers. I've found that most Sundays when they aren't with me, I miss them, A LOT!! It's just not the same sitting in church by myself without one of them snuggled up to me while we sing a hymn, or reminding them to fold their arms for a prayer. So this past weekend it was lovely having them sit with me. And the best part, they were so good!! (I should probably whisper that last part with my fingers crossed)
So today (any really yesterday and Sunday too ) I'm grateful that I had my kids with me and we got to enjoy some time together.

Pictures

Since I decided not to order school pictures for the kids from their school this year, and since school is almost over, I felt like maybe it was time to get their pictures done. So today the 3 of went and got pictures done. And since we were all ready there I decided to go ahead and have a family picture taken of the 3 of us.

Summer is Almost Over, isn't it?

This summer has been one of craziness, all kinds of craziness. We spent most of the beginning of summer getting used to the heat. Monday thru Friday the kids and I spent atleast 2 hrs each day at the park. It was great, I bought a beach umbrella and zip-tied it to the chainlink fence at the park. In Caldwell we get some big gusts of wind, which one day early on in the summer we found out as our umbrella went flying over the fence into a irrigation ditch. Thankfully it wasn't too full of water and the umbrella survived intact. Anywhoo in our area they serve lunch at the park daily which is always a big hit with the kids. And mommy got to sit and read or visit with other mommies while the kids ate and played.
We did 4 wks, yes 4wks of swim lessons. And while the kids had a blast playing in the water and learning a few things about swimming, mommy was really tired and swears never to do that again.
One of the theaters in the area provided free kids movies 3 days a week. It was lovely each week we had 2 movies to choose from and if we wanted to see both we could just go 2 different days the week. What could be better than free movies when it's hot outside.
The beginning of August we moved into Boise. It was a long drawn out move and we are all glad it's over. Now is the fun part of unpacking and getting truly settled in.
The kids start school monday August 31st. And while I'm excited about it, part of me is also sad. My baby is starting kindergarten. Miss Magoo is over the moon excited about starting school (though she has also confessed to a little part of her is still shy about it also). She will get to take the bus to school and have snack too. PJ is starting 3rd grade, and informed me it's not so exciting anymore. Yesterday we went to their new school and met their teachers, whom I may already be in love with. They both seem so very kind and excited about having my kids in their class. The school they will be attending is small, there are only 2 kindergarten classes one am and one pm. And the rest of the grades only have 2 classes per grade. None of the classes seem to be too large, so all looks well in that area.
Now we just have to wait for Monday to come to take the mandatory "first day of school" photos. And drive them to school, I can't let my babies take the bus on the first day after all.

Why oh why oh why...

Why is it that the minute I get on the phone my attention is needed asap by one if not both of my kids. They could have been playing happily together or seperatly for the last 30 minutes ( hey it does happen once in a blue moon). But the minute I say hello they are glued to my side until I hang up.

How is it that my son can remember every little thing he thinks I've ever "promised " him, but can never remember to flush and wash after he uses the bathroom?

Or that when his sister gets to do something fun while he's at school life isn't FAIR, but if he gets to do something fun at school and she gets upset, oh well he's in school and that's life??

Why is it the Mr. Man can never remember to put the seat down but can remember the stats to any football game ever played in the history of football, as well as all the names of those plays??

And why is it that my children seem to go deaf when I ask them to pick something up, but if I were to whisper "ice cream or candy" from my bedroom with the door shut they come running?

Could someone please explain it to me, I'm a little lost here...

My New Favorite Author

I have a new favorite author, Mary Pope Osborne, the author of “The Magic Tree House” series. I’ll admit to never having read an entire book of hers, just a couple of pages here and there. No, my son is the one that reads her books, he’s hooked. His 2nd grade teacher recommended Mrs. Pope Osborne’s books to me at our parent-teacher conference last Sept. She said they were just perfect for his age. And was she right. PJ devours her books, sometimes in one sitting. We recently found the books on cd, and he was in heaven. He pulled out the first book and proceeded to read along with the cd. He loves to tell me all about the latest book that he’s just finished reading, and I love to hear him get so excited about reading. Thank you Mary Pope Osborne for getting my son to love reading, you are my hero!

Happy Halloween

Our ward had trunk or treat on oct 25th. The kids of course were thrilled about dressing up. Here they are Miss Magoo as a beautiful butterfly, and PJ as a karate master. And yes I realize it's not exactly the best picture of my kids, but they refuse to stand still for photos, they feel like they must pose for each and every photo.
